The Sheerness project celebrates the delicate cast iron structure and lofty, light filled volumes of the original church and has breathed life back into the Grade II* listed structure with the introduction of new spaces, which are welcoming, friendly and inclusive. Conservation of the external fabric of the church, the addition of a new roof, windows and doors have succeeded in making the church weather tight and enabled the careful restoration of the remaining original plasterwork on the internal walls. Where new elements have been added, they work to enhance the original architecture through their careful integration and sensitive design. MAA are looking forward to project completion, when the building will once more be able to serve the needs of its local community!
