Part 2 Architectural Assistant  with excellent CAD skills

  • Salary based on experience.

Martin Ashley Architects: a busy award-winning Conservation Practice with high profile clients require experienced RIBA Part II Architectural Assistant/Architectural Technician with excellent CAD skills, aspiring to run projects.


To support conservation architects and surveyors in the creation of CAD drawings and schedules for various projects from feasibility through to construction. Other ad hoc project assistance/coordination as required. Role will be based both working from home and on site, mostly in London and the South-East.



  • Prepare feasibility, layout, general arrangement, and detail design drawings on CAD to agreed protocols to assist Project Architect.
  • Maintain files and documents in an orderly fashion with correct notation and standard naming conventions.
  • Provide as built documentation for inclusion in the project H&S file.
  • Assist with presentations/case study preparation.
  • Contract administration support, arranging/attending/minuting site progress meetings.
  • Compiling and submitting planning/listed building consent applications.


Knowledge and Experience

  • High level working knowledge 2D Auto CAD. Ability to organise AutoCAD drawings using comprehensive & detailed layer system, dynamic blocks, leaders, polylines etc.
  • Good working knowledge Sketchup, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft office.
  • Technical detailing knowledge (building construction).
  • Good working knowledge of UK building regulations and an understanding of Equality Act 2010 requirements.
  • Experience undertaking building surveys on site and translating into precise AutoCAD drawings.
  • Experience of creating schedules of work.
  • Experience compiling and submitting planning/ listed building consent applications.
  • Passion for heritage and conservation.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

Project Running Architect/Surveyor Listed Buildings


Martin Ashley Architects are an award winning Conservation practice based in Twickenham.  We are looking for a project architect/surveyor with a minimum of 4 years post qualification UK experience, with job running responsibility, excellent project management and client facing skills, knowledge and familiarity with JCT and NEC3 contracts, interested in surveying, excellent detailing, fine craftsmanship and achieving work of very high quality to join our busy team. Familiarity with Autocad, experience and passion for historic building conservation are essential; full UK driving licence desirable.


Role will include both working from home and on site, scheduling, coordinating, inspecting and administering works. The ability to liaise with and manage clients and contractors, resolve issues practically and proactively, monitor and report on progress/expenditure of projects will need to be proven. Experience of fee setting and tendering is desirable.


The salary will be within the recommended range for those qualified to RIBA Part 3/RICS scales based on required experience.
