We’re thrilled to share that the Sheerness Dockyard Church has won the Georgian Group’s Best Reuse of a Georgian Building 2023 award.

Collaborating with exceptional partners—Hugh Broughton Architects as Design Architects and Lead Consultant, Hockley & Dawson as Engineers, and Coniston Limited as the Contractor— Martin Ashley Architects served as the Conservation Architect for the Dockyard Trust.

This remarkable achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of Historic England and funding from National Lottery Heritage Fund, along with numerous other donors. Their invaluable contributions allowed us to carry out extensive repairs and repurpose this landmark building.

The renovation safeguards the existing fabric of the church and brings a new purpose to the civic building by creating a business incubator hub for local young people, and exhibition area, a restaurant and an event space.
